“The process of writing cannot be juggled with another occupation. The job of creating cannot be compartmentalized with certain hours devoted to one kind of creation and other hours set aside for still another. Writing is a demanding profession and a selfish one. And because it is selfish and demanding, because it is compulsive and exacting, I didn’t embrace it. I succumbed to it.”
Serling also said, “How can you put out a meaningful drama when every fifteen minutes proceedings are interrupted by twelve dancing rabbits with toilet paper?”
Commercials airing during the Syfy Channel’s annual New Year’s Eve/Day 24-hour Twilight Zone marathon (episode schedule here) will probably feature more Stargate actors screaming about aliens than dancing rabbits singing about toilet paper, but don’t let that stop you from tuning in while you ride out your hangover.
love Rod Serling. One of my idols in the creative world.
